Abstract

ABSTRACT
Physical punishment of children by parents or teachers are the second causes of ocular trauma in Cameroon. We report the case of a 12 year old female girl, who was whipped by a teacher as punishment. She consulted in the ophthalmology unit of Douala Gynaeco-Obstetrics and Paediatric Hospital. She complained of low visual acuity and pain on the right eye associated with a traumatic cataract on physical examination. The outcome after cataract surgery was good. Later, a multidisciplinary approach was necessary for her school reinsertion.
