Abstract

ABSTRACT
Primary melanomas of head and neck mucosa are rare entities. They often occur in men between the 5th and the 8th decade. The diagnosis is usually late. The lentiginous type is the most encountered in these mucosal locations of melanomas. The great diversity of the histopathological forms observed and described very often gives them a character of poor prognosis. Even more pejorative prognosis when the tumor grows on an anatomical site inaccessible to sight. The authors report the case of a nodular melanoma of the palate in a 68 years-old woman.
