Abstract

ABSTRACT
Pneumocrotum is the term used to describe the presence of air in the scrotum and includes scrotal emphysema and pneumatocele. The etiologies of pneumocrotum are varied. Pneumothorax is a common occurrence. A review of the literature confirmed the rarity of this phenomenon, hence the relevance of our clinical case. We report a case involving a 41-year-old male patient evacuated by the emergency medical services for multiple trauma following a road traffic accident. The injury involved a combination of severe head trauma, thoracic trauma, and pelvic trauma. The clinical examination concluded that there was severe head trauma, probably associated with pneumothorax. The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit, where his progression was marked by the development of a pneumocrotum (scrotal emphysema). Discharging incisions were made. Progression was marked by scrotal collapse and 6 hours later, the patient died.
