Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article describes the case of a 40-year-old woman who underwent surgery in May 2025 at Douala General Hospital for right carpal tunnel syndrome. The source of the compression was a Schwann cell tumor (schwannoma) of the median nerve. The surgical procedure consisted of tumor resection with neurolysis of the affected nerve segment. Preoperative symptoms (pain, paresthesia, and loss of sensation/trophism) improved postoperatively, with progressive functional recovery of the hand. This case highlights the importance of differential diagnosis for median nerve compression, the role of multidisciplinary management, and postoperative monitoring in nerve schwannomas.
