Conclusion.

ABSTRACT
Aim. Quality of life (QoL) is an individual perception of his place in existence. In 2016, Cameroon switched from a poorly tolerated interferon-based HCV treatment protocol to direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). This evolution has significantly improved adherence to the treatment of the disease. Therefore, the objective of the study was to analyze in 2018, the benefit of DAA-based treatments on patients’ QoL, in comparison with the peginterferon-based protocol (PegInf). Methods. This was a secondary research of 2 empirical studies conducted in Douala and Yaoundé by qualitative and quantitative approach, including 56 PlHVC in 2012 and 132 in 2018. The evaluation of the QoL was done using a tool administered by outpatient interview, inspired by the WHOQOL and adapted to the Cameroonian context. The quantitative analysis was done by SPSS 17.0 and the qualitative one through the textual corpus and restored by verbatim. Results. In 2012, a study of 56 patients under Peg-Inf revealed an impairment of overall QoL. As the alteration of the physical component was related to a 70% side-effect rate, the uncertainty of the outcome related to sustained virological response rate (SVR) <50% and the high cost of treatment altered the psychic component of the QoL. Conclusion. HCV treatment protocols in Cameroon with DAAs significantly improved QoL of patients.
}, number={3 (S)}, journal={HEALTH SCIENCES AND DISEASE}, author={Essi, Marie-José and Zobo, Odile Léa and Nyemeck, Florine and Mossus, Tatiana and Ntsama, Larissa and Fouwou Njoya, Charifa and Hopp, Emmanuelle and Njoya, Oudou}, year={2018}, month={Aug.} }
