To describe the courses of nephrectomies performed in the urology department of the Gabriel Touré University Hospital in Bamako. Materials and methods. This was a transversal retrospective descriptive study over 03 years (January 2015 - December 2017) on patients in whom a total nephrectomy was performed in the urology department of the Gabriel Touré University Hospital in Bamako. Results. A total of 46 patients were recruited. The sex ratio was 1.09. The patients had an average age of 42.17 years with extremes from 1 year to 81 years. The reason for consultation was dominated by lumbar pain (34.8%) and lumbar masses (41.3%). The surgical indications were mainly tumor (52.2%) obstructive (478%). Extended nephrectomy was performed in 52.2% of patients. The kidney was approached anteriorly in 6.5% of cases and by lombotomy in 93.5% of cases. A drain was placed in the dressing room for an average duration of 3 days in 91% of patients. Post-operative follow-up was uneventful in 80.5% of cases. The average hospitalization duration was 9 days. Conclusion. Open radical nephrectomy is the main technique which in our contexts and it has good immediate results. Partial nephrectomy would improve the functional outcome of our patients on whom chronic diseases are frequent.

Conclusion.
}, number={4}, journal={HEALTH SCIENCES AND DISEASE}, author={Otouana Dzon, HB and Bolenga Liboko, AF and Tsierie-Tsoba, A and Ngouoni, GC and Fouemina, T and Nkoua Epala, B and Itiere Odzili, FA and Ondzotto, G}, year={2019}, month={Jul.} }
