Conclusion.

ABSTRACT
Introduction. The checklist (CL) showed its effectiveness to reduce the surgical complications in several countries where it was implemented. The aim of our study was to assess the value of the CL in the improvement of the security and its role preventing, identifying and managing the serious, undesirable event (SUE) in the surgical patient at Ngaoundéré.Materials and methods. We carried out a descriptive retrospective survey and prospective, by using a questionnaire and an audit.; Our study variables were the means of prevention of the SUE, the type of SUE and the reasons for the occurrence of the SUE in the surgical practice of two hospitals of Ngaoundere (public and private confessional).Results. 38 personnel took part in the study.28.95% of them were using "the denunciation" as a means of prevention of SUE and 57.89% of them were using "archiving ".The main SUE that were declared were: harmful effects of the administration of drugs, post-operative hemorrhage, loss of respiratory function, post-operative infections, and allergies. The main causes of SUE were defective communication (67.47%), lack of monitoring tools (25.52%) and tiredness (12.38%).Conclusion. The review of the type of SUE and factors leading to these events suggests that the operative check list may improve the safety of the surgical care by facilitating the standardization of team work.
}, number={1}, journal={HEALTH SCIENCES AND DISEASE}, author={Ngaroua, David and Djibrilla, Yaouba and Danghoua, Dieudonné and Eloundou N, Joseph}, year={2018}, month={Jan.} }
